* I've been busy with other things besides the Lightning for a while so there is a break in the action. I've popped in to the hanger and sanded & filled & sanded when I could but it has been intermittent. It got smooth and flat though, enough that I installed the canopy on the fuselage and trimmed the edged back to match. It is close but with enough space for paint and a bit of clearance after the canopy is pulled down. I've used a water cooler jug of water to press the canopy down while I worked since the locking handle isn't in place yet. A final fill coat is still needed to bring a nice line up to the green tape and get a surface good enough to paint.
working at trimming the canopy edge to match the fuselage opening
Getting a pretty good fit between the canopy and the Fuselage. The canopy skin surface is getting smooth and flat.
