** I added the static ports to each side of the fuselage. They are 12" behind the windows and on the vertical center-line. I used a Dremel Cutter that is just the right size to recess the port's flange. The little nub on the port needs to stick out from the surface. The port is floxed in. I then crawled into the back fuselage and installed the static tubing, which is secured to the fuselage with electrical sticky mounts from McMaster Carr, and zip ties. I was careful to support the aircraft tail before going in. If not, it would be difficult to get out with the tail on the floor. I had to take a selfie in the tail cone for proof I was there.
** The engine is going back to Continental Motors to be swapped for an engine with the proper crank. It is a good opportunity to do things at the firewall. I added reinforcements to the oil cooler mounts, so the flanges don't bend. I also added a fire protection blanket. It is held in place with contact spray from Cool-It and sheet metal screws around the perimeter and at any blanket edges. The screws are there because when things get real hot the adhesive burns off, but the blanket doesn't. It is a good thing to keep the blanket in place if there is a fire. My tech advisor and I did a burn test and it did well. The back side of the sheet-metal stays relatively cool. The fiberglass air-frame should stay intact.
