* My last page talked about the troubles with the flaps being warped. I tried separating the surfaces to bend the tip down but there would be too much stress. Nick at Arion said he would send me a new flap that is guaranteed to be flat and acceptable. I couldn't have asked for better support!
* I finally got the canopy frame filled and sanded enough that IT would look good painted. So, it is now red, smooth & shinny.
* I received enough carbon fiber to finish the corner reinforcements. Vacuum bagging is the way to go. It gives such a great finish. Very compact with minimum of resin. Pretty easy to do too. To do the upper corners I had to drop the peddle assemblies and mask off the contact areas. Once the layup set the assembly was put back up.
* Couldn't resist setting the left wingtip in place. The outer aileron hinge needs a bit of adjusting but so far, all lines up well.
* Pulled the wire in the right wing for the strobe/recognition lights and the landing lights. I already had the wire for the aileron trim in place. It is secured to the aileron outer pushrod.
Sprays nice but lots of vapors you don't want to breath.
Not quite so easy upside down. Epoxy runs down the brush and drips all over. Hard to get cleaned for vac bag sealing.
The port stays put once the vac pump in turned on.
Final results are compact and smooth. 8 layers in each corner.
