* Christmas & New Year Holidays with family and friends slowed work on the Lightning a bit (as it should). I managed to get the fairings for the wing roots laid up, With 3 layers on the upper and 2 on the bottom. The suggestion of Duct tape on the fuselage was a good one. Just after the epoxy set friends showed up, so I put them to work helping to remove the wings. The layup popped right off.
* After wing removal, I started replacing the fuel lines with blue Poly hose. It should never need replaced and easier to inspect.
* The wing tip to wing joint has taken a lot of filler and sanding but I had great help from my daughter, Sheriden. The left wing upper surface is finished and looks great with a primer sprayed on and lightly sanded. The right wing upper surface is just about finished.
* Both wing root fairings are being filled with super-fill and micro balloons and then sanded. It needs to be perfect since it is right where everyone looks when getting in.
* I've done a bit of work on the wheel fairings too, but will concentrate on those later.
I've gone through a lot of sandpaper and my biceps are getting a good workout. It's hard to get the fill to feather in acceptably.
* Once the top is done the wings will get flipped over and I get to do it again.
