*  There were a few lumps in the skin of the vertical stab and right elevator. As I probed I found that it just wasn't the gel-coat but the fiberglass that wasn't attached to the foam core. I removed the gel-coat and re-bonded the glass to the foam. The blue in the picture is feather-fill. Once this was sanded the areas were prime painted.

*  I started to place the front wheel pant as the build book shows but found that it is for a different fairing and landing gear. I cut out the fairing to fit the tire and then stepped back and took a look. It was way too far forward. I had to re-glass the opening at the rear.

*  To get the fairing to stand off from the tire I wrapped a rubber hose around the wheel and tapped it in place. I did the same to the main wheels.

*  To lineup the fairing I marked the center of the front and tail. A line laser was used to get things straight. I set the fairing 6 3/4" off the floor and the front jog at the back edge of the strut bracket. This puts the front cap cutout right at the weld bend of the strut bracket.

*  To model the mounting bracket, I removed the front cap and then used a length of Romex wire. It bends easily but stays put.

*  After all the fitting was done I filled all the divots and pin holes. The white finish is a sandable primer that is compatible with auto paint.

*  I came back and added the front strut fairing. I got the contour to fit pretty good. Next, I need to add the hinge to the trailing edge.
